The Bishop’s Ranch in Healdsburg, California
Sunday, June 1 - Friday, June 6, 2014

Located an hour north of San Francisco in the wine country of Sonoma County, the Bishop’s Ranch is the perfect place for a writer who needs quiet, comfort, and the kind of perspective that sitting in an Adirondack lawn chair while gazing at Mt. St. Helena can provide. This is Nightwriters’ eighth year at the Bishop’s Ranch and each seminar has been so memorable that we have decided to make it an annual event.

We will all live and work in the spacious main ranch house at the top of the hill. All of the rooms are single accommodations with private baths. Downstairs, are numerous, light-filled common rooms, equipped with comfortable chairs, lamps and books for browsing. Off the living room is a wisteria-hung loggia that winds down to a swimming pool.

When everybody arrives on Sunday, we will gather for a glass of wine before dinner and then head over to the ranch’s community dining room where we will take all our meals. At the Bishop’s Ranch, meals are a separate ministry. If you remember nothing else, you will remember the food. After dinner, we’ll return to the ranch house and gather in the living room to begin the process of getting to know each other. Then, to bed for a good night’s sleep.
